Newbie shows are made especially for those who don’t know anything about the Filipino language. The dialogs are short and sweet, while the lessons are explained in full English. The shows cover the most basic topics like food, clothing and taking a taxi. Among the shows, the most popular ones are the “Let’s Play – Duwende Ka!” episode or the “I Love You – Pakita Mo” episode.
Elementary shows are published for those with a little background with Filipino. The dialogs here are longer than those in the Newbie shows, but are still explained in English (except for the stray Taglish word that can sometimes be heard in the culture section). The shows include different sagas like the three-part Pepe Wants a Dog Series and the ongoing Jun-Bing-Mak Love Triangle. Popular podcasts include the acclaimed “You Stink, Kilikili!” and the tongue-twisting madness of “Bababa Ba?”
Pika-Pika shows are super-short learning goodies for those on the go. The crew teaches simple yet useful phrases in 5-minute shows where listeners learn high-frequency phrases and the different contexts where they can be used.
Tara Lets! is Kalyespeak’s Philippine Travel Show. These are talk shows which talk about the different travel sites in the Philippines. The language used in the shows is a mixture of English and Filipino, so it’s a great venue for learners to practice their listening skills.
Try Mo, Try Ko! is for the more advanced listeners who want to test out their comprehension and listening skills! The lessons consist of monologues/dialogs (which aren’t translated!), and the hosts give us questions for the listeners to answer!
KalyeSpeak - Learn Filipino 
Hi, first of all, thank you for this fantastic site. I have managed to pick up quite a few Tagalog words, and even some simple sentences.
However, in the old KalyeSpeak site, I used to be able to download the mp3 files, but in this new site, this is no longer available – it’s not practical to be always connected to the net to listen to your lessons.
Will you be putting up a section where we can again download your lessons in mp3 format?

Since Multiply audio hosting allows downloads, that’s an alternative option for you to host, in case some people don’t like or want to use iTunes for some reason.

I was wondering if there is a place where I can go to see the soundtracks of your shows? Most of the music you guys play with your shows sound good too. I wouldnt mind listening to the filipino songs you guys play. I want to immerse myself in your language as much as possible.

Try listening to Bamboo, Kjwan, Imago and the Radioactive Sago Project. They’re pretty good. And they play both english and filipino songs. 🙂

Yes sir I have, including the ones you mentioned earlier. I found a lot of Bamboo and i’m loving the song “Hinahanap Hanap Kita!” Been playing it on my guitar and got some help from friends to translate the words into english just so I know what i’m singing about. I also found “Gusto Ko Lamang Sa Buhay” but haven’t found Prinsesa yet.

I’ve been practicing/learning Tagalog consistently for almost 2 months now and while I’ve been making a lot of progress I though I should add some podcasts to my arsenal of learning material. I am SO glad I stumbled upon your podcasts two days ago. I was a little skeptical at first but when I accidentally listened to the “Duwende” episode first, I knew I had to listen to more. What’s funny is that as soon as I learned the word “duwende”, there were some duwendes on TFC, the Filipino tv station. (they were serving people in a place called the Hobbit House in the Philippines) Anyway, you guys are so entertaining and different from other podcasts I’ve listened to. Maraming salamat po. for example “mahal kita kasi” and some popular quotes from “My Amnesia Girl”

I guess Mickey “the soccer lawyer” will have to think about what any legal implications might arise from using full songs in the podcast first but that’s a project to consider, since movies and songs are one way to practice understanding and appreciating the language. We can definitely work with quotes though and can possibly use YouTube clips for those who visit the site. Expect cheesiness, this path is paved with it. ^_^
I don’t handle the iTunes and have never even used it, but I’m pretty sure we can add the dialog to the iTunes description from now on. It can’t be that hard, can it? [foreboding]

Hello again. I’ve been learning Tagalog for a little over a year now and my Tagalog’s gotten so much better that I have to give credit where credit is due.
I enjoy the lessons here because they’re funny, short, and sweet. Now I know if I’m ever lost or stranded in the Philippines, I’d know how to ask for food (balut, taho, etc), water, and restroom and say my stomach hurts.
My only question has to do with the Newbs: Wi-fi? Libre! episode. In the audio “May wifi” was pronounced “may” instead of “my”; is that correct? Because I thought “Mayroon” was pronounced “my-ro-on”. Which one is correct? Thank you.

Would you be able to make a lesson that just focuses on the particles, such as.. mga, nga, na..etc, and the high frequency ones. I know in most of your lessons you do expand on them and you’ve made it easier to understand it when said, but i’m still unsure where to use it when talking.. and i don’t wanna sound like a fool when speaking to relatives -.- haha! Any chance you guys can switch to android or simply an mp3 file we can download. I switched from apple to Samsung and I’m so happy I do not have to deal with iTunes anymore. The only reason I care for iTunes is to get more of your episodes. I’ve forgotten how much I hate iTunes and how unnecessarily difficult is can be, especially to convert the file over.
Other than that, thanks for the great episodes. It helps out so much. I can recognize words and understand what people are saying so much easier after listening to a podcast a few times.
